Looking Back: Paharganj Street
Midday along Paharganj Street...
Delhi, India (August 10, 2002) — Hunger is that dizzying space between sunrise and sunset when her body, gutted by poverty, slides through Delhi’s traffic in a repeated rehearsal of disappointment until her eyes, like collapsed suns, lulled me into their orbit, and I imagined some beauty in the event while forgetting my breakfast of ham and eggs, coffee, cigarette.

Thanks, Nico — the quote actually comes from a journal entry written in my guesthouse not too far from where the picture was taken way back when—what was it 2002? I love to write—and nothing stimulates that better than travel. As there hasn’t been too much travel for us lately, we’ve been falling back on some old journal entries and photos to keep things a bit interesting. Luckily, later in April, I’ll be heading to Peru for work for ten days — so that should stimulate the old blogging reflex a bit more!
