Snap de la semaine: Gros Morne National Park
Daniel | Jan 21, 2010 | Comments 5

Along the Green Point Coastal trail in Newfoundland's Gros Morne National Park. The trail follows the old winter mail road along the coast between Baker's Brook and Green Point. The long cobble beach, small ponds, and coastal tuckamore provide a pleasant variety of habitats.
Kathryn and Daniel will post a ‘Snap de la semaine’ irregulary, but at a rate of one per week. It is an original photo not otherwise on the site—it might be fresh from our camera, a new scan of some old film, a product of our fooling around with Photoshop, or a file from the archive that we haven’t posted yet.

About the Author: Everywhere he goes, Daniel is quietly reminded of the adage attributed to St Augustine: "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page". And so it was with St Augustine’s maxim echoing in his mind that he decided along with his wife, Kathryn, that they would embark on a round-the-world trip in July 2011.

I had the good fortune to visit the Maritime provinces last summer — and Newfoundland — because, as I was told — it’s NOT a maritime province! I found them all amazing. But there’s something very special about Newfoundland, a combination of rugged landscapes, fascinating history, the seemingly unending ocean, the beautiful coastal villages, the extensive wetlands and heath, the way of life of the fishermen, the great music, the people themselves, etc etc.
That looks incredibly quiet and relaxing. I haven’t been to Newfoundland yet, but lately it seems as though the internet travel community is pushing me there with several gorgeous photos and stories
Hi Shannon — thanks for dropping by! Newfoundland is ruggedly beautiful. Honestly, it’s an expansive beauty, quite unlike any other region of Canada. I love it!
Oh god just the comment section alone makes me overflow with love for my province. So glad you enjoyed your time here! I haven’t been to Gros Morne yet, which is terrible considering I lived in the west coast for two years.
That’s a beautiful coastline, makes me long for the seaside. Thanks for sharing.
