The Mudge family boathouse in Broom Point, Newfoundland. The three Mudge brothers and their families fished from the site from 1941 until 1975, when they sold the property to Gros Morne National Park. With the family's generosity, the buildings have been restored and visitors to the park are welcome to enjoy them.
About. Kathryn and Daniel will post a ‘Snap de la semaine’ irregulary, but at a rate of one per week. It is an original photo not otherwise on the site—it might be fresh from our camera, a new scan of some old film, a product of our fooling around with Photoshop, or a file from the archive that we haven’t posted yet.

Kathryn is a teacher whose experience has taken her from the classrooms of South Korea to the hallways of Canada. Her travels have taught her that backpacking is more than the seeing of sights. Instead, as Miriam Beard has so eloquently stated, "it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living". Along with her husband, Daniel, she is looking forward to trading in kindergarten-sized knapsacks for a nice 50L backpack in July 2011.
great idea – the photo of the week concept. As fun for you as your readers! So wonderful the boathouse has been restored – so fortunate they sold the property to a National Park!
I’m happy to see that it’s going to be preserved. Sitting like it is on the point, you feel like you’re standing on the edge of the world. Having been many places, Newfoundland ranks very high on my list of places that I could see myself settling in one day. It’s beautiful country.

Great photo. I really enjoy pictures of just locations with no people or animals.
Looking forward to the future photos. =)
