A longboat at anchor rests in the sand at low tide in Loh Dalum Bay, Koh Phi Phi, Thailand. This picture was taken just a few months before the tsunami in 2004. We've forgetten the name of the resort in back.

I love Koh Phi Phi. The entire island had no roads, no cars, no motorbikes. The only way to navigate the island, covered with jungle and cliffs, is by foot and by boat. It still remains pristine. Second, the island bursts with natural beauty. The island has jugged cliffs surrounded by a dense canopy of forest. The beaches dotted around the island have the whitest sand of any beaches I have seen. Even the underwater life is gorgeous. I spent one full day snorkeling at select spots around the islands, much to my joy.
It’s been a while since we’ve been back to Phi Phi, but it was the first island I visited in the south of Thailand—way back in 2001. A few years later my wife (then girlfriend) and I returned to it. That’s when we snapped this picture. We love it but to be honest—we love Koh Lanta even more.
